Sun set
Sun set is the first part of a research project which critically examines the material implications of highly networked and reproduced images, beginning with an exploration of visual media depicting sunsets. Paintings were produced en plain air during a residency at Artscape Gibraltar Point in summer 2023, led by Lisa Cristinzo, with additional work produced in response.
A preliminary series of paintings and drawings were also produced in early 2022.
Series I
Drawings in graphite, conte, charcoal, and ink based off of cellphone photos of sunsets, solicited through Instagram.
Series II
Paintings in acrylic and graphite based on the same set of sourced images.
